The body of a 21-year-old youth, who worked as a cook, was found lying on the premises of Purab Apartments at Sohana here on Friday night. The police have booked three unidentified persons for abetment to suicide.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Vijay Kumar, a resident of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, was taken to Government Medical College Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Giving details, the police said the case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s father Mohan Kumar, who alleged that his son was working as cook at three houses where some youngsters lived. “Some of the youths had been harassing his son, which prompted him to jump off the building,” alleged Mohan Kumar.
The police claimed that they were yet to investigate whether he jumped from the building or was pushed by somebody. On the statement of the victim’s father, a case has been registered under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code against three unidentified persons at the Sohana police station.
The police said they have started a probe into the case.
