Dr Navneet Singla, assistant professor, Department of Neurosurgery, PGIMER, got the Young Asian Neurosurgeon Award.

He also received the travel fellowship for his presentations at the 22nd annual meeting of the Japanese Congress for Brain Tumour Surgery, which was held in Kagoshima, Japan, from September 7 to 9. 

Over 600 neurosurgeons attended this conference from all around the world. This conference was about surgeries of different types of brain tumours, various approaches and surgical outcomes.  He presented two papers, one on vestibular schwannoma surgery and another on intra-operative frozen section of various brain tumours.  Vestibular Schwannoma surgery paper was result of surgeries done under the guidance of professor SK Gupta, head, Department of Neurosurgery. 

Paper on frozen sections presented by Dr Singla was done under guidance of Dr Sandeep Mohindra. This paper shows that an experienced surgeon can correctly tell the histology of brain tumours solely upon intra-operative impression.
