AMBALA: The police have booked a man for duping another person of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of providing a job of a peon at Kuruksehtra court.

The police have booked a man for duping another person of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of providing a job of a peon at Kuruksehtra court.

The suspect has been identified as Maga Ram, a resident of Yamunanagar.

Complainant Ranbir Kumar, a resident of Ambala, said he worked as a munshi for an advocate. He alleged that Maga Ram demanded Rs 3 lakh, of which Rs 1 lakh was given in advance and remaining Rs 2 lakh were to be paid after the appointment. However, Maga could not get him appointed and failed to return money.

Later, Maga gave a cheque of Rs 50,000 which got dishonoured. Thereafter, the accused refused to return the money and threatened the complainant that he would kill him. A case has been registered under Sections 406, 420 and 506 of the IPC.
