CHANDIGARH: To spread awareness about HIV/AIDS among Army personnel and their family members, World AIDS Day was observed at the Chandimandir military station in Panchkula from December 2 to 5.

To spread awareness about HIV/AIDS among Army personnel and their family members, World AIDS Day was observed at the Chandimandir military station in Panchkula from December 2 to 5.

Various activities such as poster making and cups and pot-painting competition were held at schools in Chandimandir. A walkathon of 5 km was flagged off from Raina Stadium on December 3 by Brig Neeraj Soni, Station Commander, Chandimandir, and Dr Veena Singh, Director, AIDS Control Society.

Other activities included a ‘nukkad natak’ by professional theatre artistes from Haryana State AIDS Control Society. Lt Col Archana Singh, Community Medicine Specialist and Commanding Officer, Station Health Organisation, Chandimandir, gave a lecture on the topic and a movie was also screened in Manekshaw Auditorium. — TNS
