Workshop on strengthening health systems begins today

The PGI and Association for Health System Analysis and Strengthening (AHSAS) are jointly organising the 3rd national workshop-cum-CME on health systems strengthening at the School of Public Health, PGI, Chandigarh, from December 7 to December 11. Workshop is partially sponsored by the Life Insurance Corporation of India, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Medical Council of India (MCI) and the State Bank of India (SBI).

The workshop will be inaugurated by Dr Rakesh Gupta, APSCM, Haryana, who has a keen interest in public health and social development and has been a forerunner in the field of health system strengthening.

Over 50 delegates comprising public health and community medicine scholars, faculty from premiere medical colleges, staff members of international organisations and government officials from more than 15 states will take part in the five-day workshop.

The workshop will also see the presence of several distinguished personalities from academics, research bodies and international and national development agencies working in the field of preventive and curative care. Under the leadership of Dr Arun K Aggarwal, Professor, Community Medicine and course director, the workshop will have deliberations on problems currently plaguing all dimensions of the public health system of developing countries like India. — TNS
