Chandigarh, October 15

A 48-year-old woman was injured as she resisted the attempt of three men to rob her of her handbag at Mani Majra here yesterday.

The victim gave a tough fight to the snatchers, who were on a motorcycle, by not leaving the bag. The suspects sped away without the bag after the woman fell down and got injured, but her efforts were enough to scare them off.

As per the police, Shalini, a resident of Uppal Marble Arch, Mani Majra, was on her way to a dentist when the miscreants targeted her near gate number 3 of Modern Housing Complex.

The passersby took the victim to a clinic. A case has been registered at the Mani Majra police station.  Sources said since the incident took place in the evening, the victim could not note down the registration number of the motorcycle. “We are scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area,” a police official said. — TNS
