CHANDIGARH: A 38-year-old woman, who posed as a lawyer, has been booked for cheating.

Chandigarh, April 30

A 38-year-old woman, who posed as a lawyer, has been booked for cheating.

The woman has been identified as Kamini Sharma, a resident of Sector 44.

According to the police, a complaint against her was received from the Punjab and Haryana Bar Association. It is alleged that the woman does not possess a law degree and still she is practising as a lawyer. The matter was brought to the knowledge of the Bar Association, which approached the police.

The woman, who was arrested later, will be produced in the court on Wednesday.

A case under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by impersonation) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 3 police station. — TNS
