An woman was found dead in a pond at the grain market here on Sunday. The police said it was in a decomposed state as it might be lying there for long.

The woman could not be identified. The Sub-Inspector at the city police station, Amandeep Singh, said some children playing cricket near the spot noticed the body and informed the police. The body had been sent to the Ropar Civil Hospital and further information would be available after conducting a post-mortem, he said.
