Chandigarh, February 17

A woman resident of Sector 48 foiled her husband’s suicide attempt today. Kuldeep, a veterinary inspector, had hung himself from a ceiling fan in his room. When his wife, a nurse at the GMCH-32, returned home after dropping their children to school around 8:20 am, she saw him hanging.

She immediately asked for help from her neighbours who brought him down. Kuldeep’s wife realised that he still had his pulse and tried to revive him via CPR. Kuldeep was then taken to the GMCH-32 where he is on ventilator support.

Jaswinder Kaur, SHO of the Sector 49 police station, said Kuldeep, 46, had come home on a holiday. “While his wife said there was nothing wrong at the family front, she hinted at him being stressed at his workplace,” she said. The police have not registered a case and are watching his medical progress. — TNS
