Woman falls off fifth floor, dies

Zirakpur, April 14

Shalini Sharma (35) died after falling from the fifth floor of a residential building on VIP Road here. Shalini was staying at South City tower number 3 and was a Bachelor in Dental Sciences.

At 9.30 am, Shalini was removing LED lights from the balcony with the help of her maid. “Shalini climbed a stool and lost balance after the LED wire came off abruptly,” said a resident of the housing society.

Upon hearing a thud, Harmandeep Singh, who stays on the first floor of the building, raised the alarm and soon society members gathered there along with Shalini’s husband Rochak Sharma.

Shalini was rushed to a hospital on VIP Road where she was declared brought dead. Her family members refused to lodge a police complaint or get her autopsy done. She was cremated in the evening.

The victim is survived by her husband Rochak Sharma, a senior manager with HDFC Bank, Gobindgarh, and two sons, aged two and eight. — TNS
