Woman ends her life at Sohana

A 30-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at Sohana today.

The police said the deceased had been identified as Mandeep Kaur, a native of Rori village in Sirsa (Haryana). According to the police, the woman complained of weakness to her husband in the morning, following which she was taken to a nearby hospital. Inspector Manjit Singh, SHO of the Sohana police station, said, “Her husband took her to the Sohana hospital for a check-up. The couple then returned to   their residence. When the husband went to collect the medical reports, the woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself.”

“No suicide note was recovered,” the SHO said.

The police said her six-month-old daughter was at the residence when the incident occurred.

Sources said the victim worked at a bank in Mohali and the couple had tied the knot in 2016.

The investigating officer, ASI Satnam Singh, said, “The paternal family of the victim has been informed. The matter will be investigated further after they reach here from their native Romana village in Faridkot. The body of the victim has been kept at the mortuary at the Civil Hospital in Phase 6.”
