A 58-year-old woman was crushed under the wheels of a Punjab Roadways bus while her 27-year-old daughter was injured after the scooter they were riding on was hit by the bus near the ISBT on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kamaljit Kaur, a resident of Mohali. Her daughter Rachna is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mohali.
The incident took place around 9 pm when the duo was heading home after meeting relatives in Chandigarh. Rachna was driving the scooter while her mother was riding pillion. The mishap occurred when the speeding bus hit the Activa scooter from the rear side.
Passersby rushed the injured to a hospital in Mohali where Kamaljit Kaur was declared brought dead. The driver of the bus managed to flee from the spot.
