Well-known poets regaled the audience at a Hasya Kavi Sammelan, organised by the State Bank of India Officers' Association (SBIOA), on the eve of the Independence Day at the SBI auditorium here today. Replete with wisdom, their poetry reflected the love for the motherland.

Eminent poet Dinseh Devgarhia, who conducted the sammelan with literary acumen, paid tributes to the supreme sacrifice of martyrs before Arun Betab brought into focus the prevalent social evils and problems such as pollution, price rise and costly education.

Haryanavi poet Sunder Lal Kataria left the audience in splits. Poet Anamika Walia, on the other hand,  lamented the treatment meted out to martyrs. The programme attained a new dimension with Sunehari Lal Turant highlighting the flight of businessmen from the country.
