Mohali, November 5

While the dengue cases continue to surface, experts hope that there would be substantial improvement in the situation in the coming week.

“The winter has started setting in. I hope that there would be substantial fall in the dengue cases from the next week,” said Dr AP Singh, a private practitioner at Phase 2 here.

Dr AP Singh said he was receiving between 6 to 8 dengue patients daily, but the number had already started falling now.

“The reason is the start of the winter season in which the mosquitoes would not survive. With mercury plummeting in the coming days, the dengue cases will also fall substantially,” said Dr AP Singh.

Echoing similar sentiments, Dr Pawan Jain said Mohali had hit the top spot on the dengue cases list this year, but residents would get a sigh of relief soon.

This year, the number of dengue patients has already crossed 1,800 in Mohali district — five dengue deaths have also been reported so far. The number of total samples tested for dengue has also crossed 2,600.

Notably, Mohali had remained on the top of the list of dengue cases, with nearly 1,200 cases last year, while the state had recorded more than 3,200 dengue cases then.
