Will raise child as our own, says rape survivor’s mom

CHANDIGARH: He is part of our family. We will not offer him for adoption. This was stated by the mother of a 16-year-old girl, a rape survivor who gave birth to a baby boy in the seventh month of pregnancy at the GMCH, Sector 32, on Tuesday.

We will not offer him for adoption. This was stated by the mother of a 16-year-old girl, a rape survivor who gave birth to a baby boy in the seventh month of pregnancy at the GMCH, Sector 32, on Tuesday. The minor girl was raped by a 17-year-old boy who was apprehended and sent to Juvenile Home in Sector 25.

The victim’s mother said she was ready to take care of the newborn. She added that she, along with her daughter, would raise the child and won’t offer it for adoption.

The victim herself is a single parent child. She was being brought up by her mother.

The victim, a resident of Burail village, had complained of stomach ache, after which her mother took her to the hospital where doctors revealed that she was pregnant. 

Meanwhile, the police recorded the statement of the victim who is yet to be discharged from the hospital. The victim and her child are stated to fine.
