Will promote resolution of cases through mediation: Judge

The legal support and care centres at the block level will be strengthened and a special campaign will be launched to educate litigants about the resolution of their issues through mediation by organising seminars. 

This was stated by RS Rai, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Fatehgarh Sahib, while presiding over the quarterly meeting of the District Legal Services Authority here today. 

He said 1,657 cases were disposed of in three lok adalats in the district and 77 legal awareness seminars were organised by the legal services authority. 

The District and Sessions Judge directed subordinate courts to expeditiously dispose of cases of undertrials. Ways and means to efficiently implement provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of children) Act, 2015, were also discussed.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Alka Meena besides other officials.
