The police today arrested the wife and in-laws of a Panchkula resident, Saurabh Gupta (30), who committed suicide by taking poison yesterday.
The police arrested his wife Monika, father-in-law Ashok Kumar, mother-in-law Kusum Lata and sister-in-law Hitesh after registering an FIR under Sections 306 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 26 police station.
Ashok Kumar is a Head Constable with the Chandigarh Police, informed Saurabh’s father. Ashok Kumar lives in the Police Lines, Sector 26, here.
In his complaint, he said the marriage was solemnised three years ago and his son was being harassed for the past around two and a half years.
Yesterday, Saurabh’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law visited his residence in Panchkula and indulged in a quarrel with him. He was harassed on way back to Chandigarh after which he took the extreme step.
