Chandigarh, August 18

The victim of Monday night’s stalking incident in Sector 36 here has moved an application in the court to direct the Investigating Officer to place on record the CCTV footage. The application, moved via her counsel, includes photos of two specific spots along the route where CCTV cameras are placed.

According to the application, two CCTV cameras are installed at the Sanatam Dharm Mandir in Sector 37, while one is installed at MCMDAV College at the T-point near the college. The counsel for the victim, Gurpreet Singh Saini and Dikshit Arora, submitted the application in the court today, which says that the footage may help in proving the victim’s case.

The application has also raised doubts that the footage may be tampered with or manipulated by the accused who were sent to judicial custody yesterday. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 31. Three youths had stalked a girl from Sector 36 to Sector 40 on Monday. The accused were arrested on Tuesday and were sent to one-day police remand on Wednesday. One of the accused - Rohit Kamboj - has applied for bail and it will be taken up for hearing on Saturday.
