UT to demolish illegal structures on periphery

CHANDIGARH:The Administration has issued over 150 notices for demolition of houses constructed in violation of the provisions of the Periphery Act at Mani Majra, Deep Complex, Hallo Majra, and Khuda Ali Sher village.

The Administration has issued over 150  notices for demolition of houses constructed in violation of the provisions of the Periphery Act at Mani Majra, Deep Complex, Hallo Majra, and Khuda Ali Sher village. Sources said a  major  drive had been planned at Khuda   Ali Sher on  Friday  where over 50  houses   and other  structures had been constructed on agricultural  land. As  per the Periphery Act, no construction is  allowed on agricultural  land. The owners were earlier served notices to remove the constructions on their own, but they failed to do so.

The Estate Office  will also carry  out a drive  to remove illegal  slums  in Sanjay  Colony situated in the  Industrial Area. Sources said the  drive would be carried out after  identifying eligible  applicants  under the  Pradhan Mantri   Awas Yojana.
