Chandigarh, February 12

Contractual employees and outsourcing workers gathered at the Sector 17 Plaza in large numbers and protested for regular jobs or security of tenure.

The protest was held under the banner of All-Contractual Karamchari Sangh, UT, to voice the concern of nearly 20,000 workers.

Sangh chairman Bipin Sher Singh said contractual employees and outsourcing workers were working with various departments of the Chandigarh Administration, the Municipal Corporation and the PGI etc for the past 20-25 years but no effort had been made to regularise their services.

He said they were angry over the dilly-dallying by the UT Administration and lack of political will in resolving their issues.
