The jail staff nabbed an undertrial who tried to flee from Government Rajindra Hospital here yesterday. Identified as Manmeet Singh of Partap Nagar, he has been lodged in the Central Jail, Patiala, in a case related to the NDPS Act and Arms Act.

According to the police, Manmeet was arrested last week and sent to judicial custody. He fell ill and was shifted to the hospital for treatment. 

“He attacked two constables and fled from the hospital. They chased him down while he was trying to take away a bike from near the Theekri Wala roundabout,” said the police. A case has been registered against him at the Civil Lines police station.
