Patiala, November 5
The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Chandigarh, emerged as champion in the first International Law Moot Court Competition held here at the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL). The UILS was adjudged as the best team as they defeated the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, in the finals.
The winning team, UILS, has been awarded prize money of Rs 10,000 while the runners-up, UPES, was awarded Rs 7,000. The three-day Surana and Surana & RGNUL International Law Moot Court Competition started on the university campus on November 3.
The UPES, Dehradun, also received the best memorial award. Meanwhile, Shriya Sharma of the Pravin Gandhi College of Law bagged the Best Student Advocate award. Hidayatullah Natioanl Law University was awarded the Spirit of Surana award. Cash prizes worth Rs 4,000 each for best memorial and best student advocate were also awarded to the winners.
