A car-borne gang, that has women members and targets elderly are on prowl in Dera Bassi Sub Division, as yet another incident with similar modus operandi was reported from Lalru.

Though the incident happened on May 8, the victim’s son, Mohan Singh, had approached the police on Friday following which a case was registered.

According to the police, the victims, Naina Devi (51) and Angoori Devi (65), residents of Nagla village, near Dera Bassi, complained that on May 8, they were waiting for the bus at Handesera bus stand for going to a bank regarding pension related work.

In the meantime, a swift car stopped beside them and a woman sitting in it engaged them in conversation. She started talking about the pension scheme. She also offered a lift to them.

The police said, on the way to bank, the accused woman Jeeto and Shinder of Sangrur district took out their gold earrings and dropped the victims on the main road and drove away.

Nearly after two weeks, Naina Devi narrated the whole incident to his son Mohan Singh on Friday, who later on approached the Handesera police and got the complaint registered against the two accused women Jeeto and Shinder of Sangrur and their unidentified driver.

Further investigation into the case was on, added the police.
