Miscreants allegedly opened fire on the SUV of a contractor near his house in Sector 40 this morning. The victim and his driver escaped unhurt.

The police said the complainant, Sunil Khasa, alias Sonu, reached the Sector 39 police station in his black Fortuner and reported that he had left his house at 10.45 am with his driver Monu in his SUV for the airport from where he was supposed to catch a flight to Delhi. He said they had just left the house when two miscreants opened fire on him with the intention to kill him.

Acting swiftly, the driver sped away from the spot. They then directly rushed to the police station.

The complainant said he saw both miscreants escaping in a white Scorpio bearing a Haryana number, which had two more occupants.

In his complaint to the police, the victim stated that in April 2010, his brother Narender Khasa, alias Labhu, was murdered by Krishan Gatha and his accomplices Manoj Butana, Sandeep, alias Kala, Jashmer, alias Popa, Sonu Mahmodpur, Kuldeep, Naveen, alias Dosi, and others, who were later sentenced to life imprisonment. He said he was the complainant in the said case.

While Sandeep, alias Kala, and Jasmer, alias Popa, are in judicial custody,  Krishan Gatha and his other accomplice were on parole,  but now they are absconding.

The complainant alleged that these persons had threatened him many times in the past and were planning to eliminate him. The complainant alleged that Krishan and his accomplices fired on him.

Based on the complaint, the UT police have registered a case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act at the Sector 39 police station against  Krishan, Sunil Choon and Pawan. The police said two bullets were fired by the miscreants on the SUV.

The police said the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area was being scrutinised to get clues.
