Two-day health camp held

Patiala: With an aim to raise awareness about auto immune disorders of the endocrine system, doctors at Columbia Asia Hospital, Patiala, organised a health camp where people were encouraged to seek timely treatment and adopt preventive mechanisms. The special focus of this health camp was diabetes management. With an alarming rise in incidence of diabetisy (diabetes + obesity) in Delhi-NCR, awareness about diabetes prevention and management has become important. As per the International Diabetes Federation, prevalence of diabetes in Indian adults is as high as 8.7 per cent. The two-day health camp saw a healthy footfall of 113. Patients interacted freely with specialists at the camp who educated them about the need for regular health screenings to keep a check on the health of the endocrine system and diabetes at bay. TNS

Orientation programme 

Panchkula: The Marg Darshak, an orientation programme for the police, was held by the DLSA, Panchkula, on Saturday. It was held to make them aware about various legal issues, especially the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and the rules framed there under the POCSO Act, 2012. Nidhi Bansal, Chief Judicial Magistrate, addressed the gathering. Police officials were also told about the amended provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and explained about the role of para legal volunteers and panel advocates in providing legal assistance to children. Two arrested for theft 

Panchkula: The Panchkula police arrested two persons in connection with the theft of a car and other items at the District Courts Complex. Accused Manish and Aman had stolen an Alto car of a lawyer from outside the courts complex along with a laptop, printer, heater and watch. The accused are residents of Jind and have been sent to the Ambala Central Jail. TNS

Free medical camp today 

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police will organise a free medical health check-up camp for senior citizens at Government Senior Secondary School, Khuda Lahora, on Sunday from 9 am 1 pm in association with the Bharat Vikas Parishad (youth branch). Visitors have been asked to reach the venue at 8 am for registration. TNS
