Two builders booked

MOHALI: The police have booked two builders for developing a housing project without obtaining the required licence from the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) here.

The police have booked two builders for developing a housing project without obtaining the required licence from the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) here.

According to Inspector Rajesh Astir, SHO of the Sohana police station, the duo had been identified as Gurpreet Singh and Kamaljit Singh, managing director and director, respectively, of Emerging India Housing Cooperative. The project, spread over 25 acres, was being developed in Nogiari village here. Booking of houses in the project was said to be under way.

According to the SHO, a complaint was lodged by the Chief Administrator of GMADA following which a case under Section 36(1) of the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act, 1995, was registered against the duo.

In the complaint, the GMADA official claimed that the builders had not procured the required licence for the project from the authorities.

According to sources, the company applied for Change of Land Use certificate. According to the police, the case was registered after taking a legal opinion of the district attorney of Mohali. —TNS
