Two brothers held with 50-gm heroin

Mohali Special Task Force (STF) sleuths nabbed two brothers with 50-gram heroin here on Tuesday.

The accused — Sita Ram and his brother Balbir Singh — have been arrested from near the Kharar Civil Hospital, where they were waiting for a client. Both accused hailed from Patiala.

Special Task Force SP Rajinder Singh Sohal said the duo used to procure heroin from Delhi and sell it in the Mohali and Kharar area.

“Sita Ram has already been convicted in a similar case, which was registered at Ambala-Sadar police station, wherein he was awarded 10-year sentence. He was released on bail in 2013 after which, he started selling heroin,” said SP Sohal.

A case under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 89 of the NDPS Act has been registered. were produced before a local court which remanded them in two-day police custody. —TNS
