Two auto-rickshaws ferrying 43 students impounded

The State Transport Authority impounded two auto rickshaws carrying 43 school children in Mani Majra today. 

While one was carrying 22 students of MRD Model School, Mani Majra, the other was found ferrying 21 students of Shishu Niketan School, Panchkula. The State Transport Authority has not only challaned but impounded these two auto rickshaws.

The rickshaw drivers did not even have complete documents.  

State Transport Authority official Ravinder Singh said, “Multiple offences will escalate their fine up to Rs 15,000. We don’t have the power to cancel or suspend the license. We will be able to release the rickshaws whenever the drivers pay the fine.”

After the recent bus accident in Hallo Majra when two children were injured, the State Transport Authority has been conducting special drives for vehicles carrying school children. 

A total of 28 auto rickshaws were challaned today. As many as 40 challans were slapped today by the authority.
