Twin titles for Chitkara

Chandigarh, October 10

Chitkara International School, Sector 25, won the boys’ U-17 and U-19 titles on the concluding day of the CBSE Cluster XVIII Football Tournament at St Soldier School, Sector 28, here, on Wednesday.

Gopal (15th, 35th) struck twice, while Hira (10th) and Tushar scored a goal each to help Chitkara International beat Sri Guru Harkrishan School, Sector 38, 4-0 in the boys’ U-17 final. 

Earlier in the semifinals, Chitkara boys blanked Vivek High School, Sector 38, 2-0, while Sri Guru Harkrishan School overcame the hosts St Soldier School 5-3. 

In the boys’ U-19 final, Chitkara International registered a 2-0 win over the hosts. Nitin (40th) and Jaspal (50th) scored a goal each for Chitkara. 

In the semifinals, Chitkara boys had drubbed St Soldier School, Mohali, 3-0.

Tanish of St Soldier School was adjudged the Best U-17 Player. Sahil of Guru Harkrishan School and Anmol of Chitkara School were named the Best Goalkeepers.

In the U-19 category, Nitin of Chitkara School was adjudged the Best Player, while Arnav Rana of St Soldier was awarded the Best Defender trophy. Rupesh of Chitkara School was named the Best Goalkeeper. — TNS
