Satwinder Kaur of Class VII- A delivered a speech highlighting his life in a special assembly organised by Tulip House. School principal Meena Thapar paid a floral tribute to Mahatma Hansraj and motivated the students to follow his valuable teachings.

Annual sports day

Ryan International School held its 12th annual sports day. Students of Classes VI to XII showcased their talent by participating in sports events. Sehajpreet Kaur of Class Xi was declared the best athlete in the girl's category. Harshveer Singh of Class XII was declared the best athlete among boys. The show stopper of the event was the announcement of the best house. King Kanishka bagged the first position with highest score, followed by King Ashoka and third position by King Shivaji.

World conference on war literature

Government Mohindra College, Patiala, will organise a two-day international conference from November 16. The theme of the conference is, "War Literature: Revisioning Across Genres". As many as 150 scholars from India and abroad will present their research papers. Dr Bandit Aroman from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, will preside over the inaugural session. Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor BS Ghuman will preside over the valedictory session.

Lecture on fingerprinting

Youth Club and Red Cross Society organised a lecture on fingerprinting at General Shivdev Singh Diwan Gurbachan Singh Khalsa College, Patiala. Dr Inderjeet Singh focused on the increasing crime rate in the country and informed students how criminals could be caught through fingerprint, footprint and toxicology. He also traced the history of fingerprinting. An interaction between Dr Inderjeet Singh and the students was also held. He encouraged science students to join the Forensic Department for a bright future. TNS
