Chandigarh, September 24

Traffic snarls were witnessed on several roads in Chandigarh following incessant rain today. A huge rush was witnessed especially during the morning and evening hours, stretching the usual travel time.

The traffic at the entry roads from Zirakpur, Panchkula and Mohali moved at a snail’s pace in the morning due to waterlogged roads.

A usual 30-minute journey took about 50 minutes during the peak hours. The traffic snarls were witnessed on the Zirakpur-Chandigarh road, Dakshin Marg, the road from Panchkula towards Chandigarh on Madhya Marg and on several roads from Mohali. Commuters had to manoeuvre their vehicles through the waterlogged roads, slowing down traffic.

Cops were on duty at various points despite heavy rain to regulate traffic, which provided some relief to the commuters. The situation was similar in the evening when traffic jams were witnessed on the roads leading to Panchkula and Zirakpur.
