Keeping in view the traffic snarls due to the construction of a flyover from Desu Majra to Khanpur bridge, the district administration has imposed traffic restrictions on the stretch and a ban on the movement of heavy vehicles from October 15.

According to information from Kharar SDM Vinod Bansal, necessary orders about types of restrictions have been issued by Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra today. These restrictions have been imposed keeping in view the festivals and paddy season.

As per the order, heavy vehicles, including canters, trucks and tractor-trolleys, have been banned from plying on the road from Gopal Sweets Chowk to Khanpur Bridge Chowk and from Swaraj Factory on the Landran road to Khanpur Bridge Chowk. However, no ban will be imposed on small vehicles and trolleys filled with paddy.

Similarly, movement of any kind of vehicular traffic would be completely closed from Khanpur Chowk to Gopal Sweets Chowk and from Kharar Bus Stand Chowk to Khanpur Chowk from 10 pm to 6 am so that flyover can be constructed on a war footing during that time.

The Deputy Commissioner also ordered that police personnel would not allow buses to stop on the roadside. Rather, they would allow the buses to stop at the Kharar bus stand only. She has also ordered that the National Highways Authority of India would repair and widen the road from the Kharar bus stand to Captain Chowk on a war footing. These orders will be effective from October 15 and will remain in force till further orders.
