Chandigarh, May 24

The traffic diversions for entry and exit in Sector 45 began on a trial basis today amid confusion among local residents and even traffic cops deployed at various points. Traffic snarls were witnessed on the internal road near Dev Samaj College, one of the exit routes, due to parking on the roadside. The diversion plan at the grain market in Sector 26, however, functioned smoothly.

The traffic police allowed entry to Sector 45 from the Sector 33/45 light point only while there were two exit points on the road separating Sectors 44 and 45 and the road separating Sectors 46 and 45. Due to narrow roads in Burail, Sector 45, traffic snarls were witnessed at various points.

The traffic snarls were also witnessed on the road in Sector 50. Many people were seen entering the sector from the road separating Sectors 45 and 46 and the road separating Sectors 44 and 45. Local residents and motorists had to face inconvenience due to the diversions on the first day.

Manoj Singh, a resident of Sector 45, said the traffic police and the UT Administration should review the plan. Police personnel were deployed on all roads to regulate the traffic and guide people about the diversions.
