Acting on a tip-off, the police on Friday arrested four persons, including three girls, on the charge of immoral trafficking near the Railway over bridge in Dhakoli. One of the accused has been identified as Charanjit Singh, a resident of Zirakpur.

The police said they got information that Charanjit, the kingpin, along with three girls, had been allegedly running a racket in the city. They were indulging in immoral trafficking. They were waiting for clients near the RoB, Dhakoli, on Friday following which a decoy customer was sent to them.

“The accused struck a deal with the decoy customer. Following this, we conducted a raid and arrested them,” said the police.

A case under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic Act has been registered against the accused.

They were produced in the court on Friday, which sent them to 14-day judicial remand, the police said.
