Three booked for duping woman of Rs 10 lakh

PATIALA:The police have registered a case against three persons for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 10 lakh and fraudulently transferring her husband’s land in their name.

The police have registered a case against three persons for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 10 lakh and fraudulently transferring her husband’s land in their name. The accused have been identified as Sulinder Singh, Sampuran Singh of Sangrur and Gurjant Singh, all residents of Baner Kalan village.

According to the complainant, Sinder Kaur, a resident of Duggal Kalan village in Patran, the accused took Rs 2 lakh from her husband for providing him a loan on his land. She said they handed them a cheque for Rs 8 lakh, which bounced. She claimed that the accused had fraudulently made her husband sign papers for transfer of his land in their name.

The police have registered a case against all the three accused under Sections 406 (Criminal breach of trust) and 420 (Cheating and dishonesty) of the Indian Penal Code in this connection.
