Teen gets 7 years in jail for raping minor

A local court today sentenced an 18-year-old boy to seven-year imprisonment for raping a minor. Ajay, a resident of Sector 41, was also fined Rs 5,000. He was held guilty under Section 4 of the POCSO Act for raping a 14-year-old girl last year.

On March 13, 2017, Ajay was arrested on the basis of a complaint of the victim’s mother. The victim was playing near the staircase leading to her house close to which there was a toilet. She was grabbed and taken inside the toilet where Ajay touched her inappropriately and raped her. As he was unlocking the door of the toilet, the girl’s parents, who happened to be passing by, saw him. They immediately dialled 100 and informed the police after which Ajay was arrested under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
