Teachers, principals acquainted with edu board initiatives

An orientation for school principals and mathematics, science and language teachers of the UT was organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in collaboration with UT Education Department, at Delhi Public School, Sector 40-C, here today.

The session was attended by 302 participants. Eminent guests at the orientation were Anita Karwal, Chairperson, CBSE; BL Sharma, UT Education Secretary; Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director, Academics, CBSE; Rubinderjit Singh Brar, DSE, UT; and Deputy Secretaries of CBSE in addition to other key officials of the Department of Education, Chandigarh.

Anita Karwal, Chairperson, CBSE, in her address on ‘Hubs of learning and annual pedagogical plan’ emphasised on the role of principals as pedagogical leaders. She talked about various initiatives taken by the CBSE to bring about the needed changes in the curriculum.

The programme aimed at incorporating new strategies in the educational curriculum. Speakers laid emphasis on experiential learning and hands-on experiences in the classroom. They deliberated on pedagogical leadership and CBSE initiatives in equipping the students to take on the world. They sought cooperation of the principals for revolutionising the education system. A short presentation by the core committee of PISA, apprised the audience of the ground work being done. — TNS
