Teachers of 149 schools take part in eco club event

An orientation programme for Eco Club was organised on Thursday by the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration and Yuvsatta, an NGO at New Public School, Chandigarh. Representative teachers from 149 Schools where Eco Clubs are already established participated in the event. 

Santosh Kumar, Director, Department of Environment and Chief Conservator of Forests and Wildlife, was the chief guest. Santosh Kumar while appreciating the role of Eco Clubs in making Chandigarh said, “For any tangible environmental impact teachers have to become role-model for young students. Ultimately, sustainability is about being good global citizens.” 

A day-long orientation included with interactive sessions on different themes by experts on biodiversity and water conservation, climate change and UN Sustainable Development Goals, solar and renewable energy, making Chandigarh zero per cent waste and plastic pollution free city. — TNS
