Teachers’ body demands closure of schools

Chandigarh: The United Front of Government Teachers demanded closure of schools from May 26 onwards due to scorching heat. Due to temperature touching around 45°C in Chandigarh, school students were unable to bear it, said the union. “There is insufficient water, both for drinking and washrooms. There are power cuts in many sectors in routine. Moreover, while returning home at 2 pm, many students faint on roads and in buses, and also during school hours,” added the union. — TNS
