Mohali, September 22

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated a two-day leadership summit at the Indian School of Business (ISB) here today. The Tribune is an associate partner for the event.

In its 15th edition, the ISB’s annual leadership conclave is playing host to around 40 eminent leaders from the field of politics, business, technology, sports, academia and entertainment.

The other eminent people who were present on the dais with Naidu were Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha, Punjab Minister of Health and Family Welfare Brahm Mohindra, executive board member of the ISB Rakesh Bharti Mittal and Dean of the ISB Rajendra Srivastava.

The summit will focus on trends that have the potential to shape the future in the years to come.

Speaking on the theme of the summit, Rakesh Bharti Mittal asked students to be prepared to face uncertainties as they plan their future. He urged the students to use their time at summits like these and also in classrooms to equip themselves to lead in uncertain environments.

Citing several quotes from leaders, Vedas and quoting philosophers like Swami Vivekananda, Naidu said, “We must take pride in our heritage, culture and traditions. We must not shun these aside in the face of western influences. Going with the theme to unravel the future of India, we must work hard together to create an ideal country with ideal people.”

Kiran Bedi, Lt Governor of Puducherry, Gen VP Malik (retd) and Dr Christopher Gibbins, Canadian Consul General, will speak during the summit tomorrow.
