Chandigarh, July 21

The Syndicate meeting on Sunday will seal the fate of DAV College’s MBA affiliation. The affiliation committee, comprising of Syndicate members, has given nod for temporary affiliation for 60 seats after imposing some conditions. Earlier, the committee had made various objections, but, later agreed to it after survey committee gave its report.

The Syndicate will give its final nod for the same when it meets this Sunday. The affiliation committee had earlier pointed out that there is no standalone institution for running the course. Also, the staff for the institution was transferred from the existing college while the rules demand appointment of fresh faculty. The affiliation committee has thus kept a condition for the college to appoint new staff for MBA.

Mukerian college principal’s ouster to be taken up

The allegation of the principal of SPN College, Mukerian, against the management to kick her out will once again be taken up at the Syndicate meeting. In the last meeting, the Syndicate had decided that the management will be summoned by the Vice-Chancellor. According to the agenda, the college has listed five reasons for her ouster. It says that the principal claimed double travel allowance when she visited the university for a meeting. According to the management, she claimed the TA from the college as well as the PU. However, the VC has commented that the college never gave her a chance to explain herself.

Another reason listed is that Principal Kawaljit Kaur did not seek permission from the management to attend an event at the PU. Yet another reason is that she left an examination centre without prior permission. The principal had called the management ‘businessmen’ who tried to ruin an educationist’s career. The management has taken it as a serious allegation to the same. Syndicate will discuss the issue and is expected to reach a solution in this meeting.
