Chandigarh, December 9

While the councillors of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) are set to embark on five-day study tour to Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram from December 21, Congress’ Leader of Opposition in the MC House, Devinder Babla, termed the tour ill-timed and wastage of public money.

Babla in the statement issued today said though he was not against the study tours of the councilors, the present tour was not required at all.

He said there was no need to go on another tour when the reports of the earlier tours were not implemented yet.

He said secondly, the Municipal Corporation was facing the worst financial crisis. At a time when the civic body was short of development funds, spending money on the tour would invite public wrath.
