Patiala, April 18

Two students of Punjabi University, Patiala, allegedly sexually harassed by a professor, have approached the High Court. The court has admitted their petition and the case will now come up for hearing on April 26. The students have also accused university officials of hushing up the matter.

The students at the Centre for Advanced Media Studies (CAMS) had last year alleged that Dr Harjeet Singh of the department sexually harassed them. The students lodged a complaint with the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Cell (PSHWWC) of the university.

The professor was sent on leave in November and the PSHWWC started investigation. He was transferred to Bathinda but he approached the HC in February and got stay on transfer orders. — TNS
