Student sent to juvenile home

A student was apprehended while his mother and three relatives were arrested for beating up a teacher at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 45, on Thursday.

Rishi Kumar, the Hindi teacher, had filed a complaint, on the basis of which a case under Sections 147, 148, 332, 353 and 323 of the IPC was registered against the juvenile student, his mother Rama, alias Rani, maternal uncles Vinod Kumar and Santosh and aunt Pooja.

The student was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to juvenile Home while the other accused were sent to judicial custody.

While the District Education Officer had marked an inquiry in the matter, Education Secretary BL Sharma had asked for an FIR to be registered.

Following a scuffle, the accused had allegedly thrashed the teacher with a helmet and when a woman teacher tried to intervene, she was also beaten up. The scuffle ended as students intervened. The police were informed and both parties were taken to the police station. They had initially reached a compromise.
