Stray dogs bite 11 in Dera Bassi

As many as eleven people were bitten by stray dogs in Dera Bassi in the past two days. The injured  included seven children. Of the dog-bite cases reported at the local Civil Hospital yesterday, two were referred to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh. Two more cases were reported on Sunday. 

The hospital authorities said barring the persons who were referred to the Chandigarh hospital, none had serious injuries.

Those bitten by stray dogs are Sonam (10), Sushma (11), Harshikha (3), Sunita (10), Sumit (11), Bachan Kaur (70), Gaurav (26), Deepak (34), Hashim (7) and Dilbag (62). The victims belong to Dera Bassi, Mubarikpur and Rampur Sainian village.“We had received 11 dog-bite cases. They were given first aid and vaccinated,” said sources at the Civil hospital, Dera Bassi. 

Sangeeta Jain, SMO, Dera Bassi, said “Anti-rabies vaccine was available at the hospital and all dog-bite cases were being given timely treatment.”
