Ambala, June 26

Ambala City will soon have a state-of-the-art inter-state bus terminus (ISBT). With almost 60 per cent of the work already complete, the Rs 18-crore project coming up over 8 acres of land will be completed shortly.

Local MLA Aseem Goel reviewed the progress of the ongoing work on the project here today. He said the new ISBT would be a three-storeyed structure equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for commuters and visitors.

Besides housing the bus stand on the ground floor, Haryana Roadways General Manager office on the first floor and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and Regional Transport Officer (RTO) offices on the second floor, the ISBT complex will have shopping complex, canteens, waiting rooms, ATMs, toilets, potable water supply and other requisite facilities.

“With this, one of the biggest and oldest demands of the local residents will be met,” Goel said.

Officials of the construction company told the MLA that the work on the project, which began in August last year, would be completed in the next couple of months as almost 60 per cent of the job was already done.

The new ISBT would facilitate the commuters to avail of inter-state bus services with much ease and convenience, the legislator said.
