The Syndicate refused to provide any relief to the SSP Traffic, Shashank Anand, who was seeking migration to semester-V in LLB from Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, to Panjab University (PU).
Had it been allowed, he would have become the classmate of his boss Chandigarh DGP, TS Luthra, who was allowed admission to semester-V in law, without passing semester-IV, as a special case.
The Syndicate said as the last date to apply for the migration had passed, he could now apply next year.
Anand was posted to Chandigarh on July 31 this year on inter-cadre deputation. He has been pursuing three-year LLB evening programme from the MDU, Rohtak, Haryana, from 2015 onwards.
“Now, it will not be possible for me to return to Rohtak, to complete this programme. In addition to this, as per the Bar Council of India’s guidelines, the LLB evening programme has got discontinued. Thus, this is the last opportunity for me to complete LLB (Hons) programme, of which, I have already completed two out of three years,” he said in his application to the Vice Chancellor. But the last date for submission of admission form was September 7 and he applied on September 19.
For the delay, Anand reasoned, “In this regard, it is submitted that I have remained extremely occupied with the maintenance of law and order and the security of vital installations in the UT Chandigarh in the wake of the recent episode involving Dera chief Baba Ram Rahim as well as the student body elections in your esteemed university.”
