Chandigarh, June 14

A local court on Thursday issued contempt notices to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), UT, and the SHO, Industrial Area police station, for failing to comply with its order to register a cheating case against the owners of Paara, a night club at Centra Mall here.

Gurdarshan Singh Kapoor, a former employee of the club, had moved a complaint against the owner couple Gopal Krishna Sharda and Monica Sharda, stating that the accused issued him two cheques for Rs 1.25 lakh each against his salary in June last year.

However, the two cheques were dishonoured when presented in bank.

Following this, the complainant approached the accused to pay him the amount. However, they kept on giving excuses.

Later, Kapoor moved a complaint in a local court.

During the trial, the court had issued bailable warrants and later, non-bailable warrants against the couple.

On April 25 this year, the court declared the duo as proclaimed offenders (POs) and also directed Inspector Zahid Parvez Khan, the SHO of the Industrial Area police station, to register a first information report (FIR) against the accused.

As per the complainant, the SHO did not register an FIR and even talked to him in a rude manner.

Kapoor also submitted an application with the UT SSP on June 1 this year.

However, the court order for lodging a case was still not complied with.
