Sri Aurobindo School, Chandigarh, won the Four-Way Test Trophy at a declamation contest organised by the Rotary Club of Chandigarh on "Ethics in day-to-day life". In the individual category, three girls cornered the first three top prizes. Eishani of Class X of Delhi Public School won the first prize while Nitika of Class IX of Sri Aurobind School and Vaideshi of Class XI of Ajit Karam Singh International Public School in Sector 46 won the second and third prize, respectively. Amoldeep Singh of Ajit Karam Singh International Public School, Sector 41, was given a special jury prize for declamation. Chief guest Justice Rajesh Bindal of the Punjab and Haryana High Court presented the trophy to the winning school and prizes to the winners.

Tribune Model

The Art Department of Tribune Model School, Chandigarh, organised a one-day art workshop for students of Class VII. Rakesh Sen, an artist from Pidilite Industries Ltd, was the resource person who shared his expertise in terracotta mural art. Students used folk patterns to design terracotta tiles and enjoyed learning new technique. All works done during this workshop will be displayed at the school's annual exhibition.

Sri Guru Harkrishan School

The maths department of Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 40, Chandigarh, organised inter-house competitions titled 'Hide and Seek' and 'I Spy Shapes' on its premises. Principal Pritinder Kaur appreciated the conception and execution of such competitions that enhance the interest and skills of students in the otherwise dry subject like maths.

CL DAV, Panchkula

The Science Olympiad and International Company Secretaries Olympiad were conducted at CL DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Panchkula, in partnership with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and SOF. Abha Goel, a student of Class XII (Commerce), ranked sixth at the zonal level. She was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,100 and a trophy. Abhishek won a gold medal. Prisha Kohli (VI), Garima Singh (VIII), Akash Rout (X) and Navya Bhatia (X) bagged gold medals in the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (2017-18) and International General Knowledge Olympiad. Abha also won first prize and a cash award of Rs 5,100 in essay writing competition. 

 The British School

Around 100 students of Classes VII to X on Saturday attended a counselling session organised at The British School, Panchkula. Punit Kathuria, an alumnus from Panjab University, sensitised the students to different career choices. He discussed common issues and concerns students face and what were the best possible solutions for the same. 

Manav Mangal, Zirakpur

Appreciation Day was organised at Manav Mangal Smart World, Zirakpur, to celebrate the achievements of students in sessions 2016-17 and 2017-18. Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice AB Chaudhary was the chief guest. He gave away prizes to the achievers. Children presented a touching performance, 'Ode to Parents', on the occasion. School director Sandeep Sardana congratulated the winners and their parents for their hard work, efforts and their support to the institute. TNS
