Spot sites where water stagnates, MC officials told

Chandigarh, July 5

MC Commissioner KK Yadav on Thursday directed the engineers of the public health wing to identify points in the city where water accumulates during heavy rain. He asked them to depute an employee each at such places immediately after it started raining.

Yadav asked the officials to check the cleaning process of road gullies regularly, especially during rains, to avoid choking and accumulation of water. He directed the flood control team leaders of different areas to ensure proper cleaning at each and every point. He directed officials to ensure that water accumulated in low-lying areas was drained out. He said it would help in avoiding breeding of mosquitoes so as to prevent spread of vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue and chikungunya. — TNS
